“History education – the extermination of Roma and Sinti during World War II and the dissemination of knowledge in the local environment” – video of event

The former extermination camp in Chelmno nad Nerem is one of the most important points on the map of the martyrdom of Roma and Sinti during the Second World War. On 3 August 2016, a monument was unveiled dedicated to the Roma and Sinti who were sent to this German camp from the Lodz Ghetto in January 1942 and murdered there. In total, some 4,300 Roma from various countries died in this camp. The camp was the first centre created by the Germans for the sole purpose of carrying out mass executions.
As part of the project, educators from Gorzów Wielkopolski had the opportunity to visit the Museum of the former German camp Kulmhof in Chełmno nad Nerem and participate in educational workshops led by experts in Roma history and culture.

Project funded by the state budget – “Programme of social and civil integration of Roma in Poland for 2021-2030”.
